BENGALURU: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has identified around 3.7 lakh properties with pending property taxes worth Rs 700-800 crore.
BBMP chief commissioner Maheshwar Rao said notices would be reissued via SMS and email, reminding the defaulters to clear dues promptly.
Special commissioner (revenue) Munish Moudgil stated that despite auction notices issued for 6,000-7,000 properties, compliance remains low.
As a stricter measure, BBMP now plans to block the e-khata accounts of defaulters, thereby preventing property sales until dues are paid. “The process could take 4-5 months, but taxpayers must act responsibly,” he said.
