JAIPUR: In a bid to prevent monsoon-related accidents, Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Heritage (JMC-H) and Greater (JMC-G) Monday demolished nine unsafe structures in areas like Tripolia Bazaar, Maniharon Ka Rasta, and Tagore Path.

In JMC-H’s zone, a portion of a crumbling building in Ward 72’s Maniharon Ka Rasta was demolished and subsequently sealed. Similar operations were conducted at Nataniyon Ki Haveli in Tripolia and Khejron Ka Rasta.

Meanwhile, JMC-G zone’s team used bulldozers to demolish five dangerously weak buildings in Mansarovar.

“We’ve identified 126 dilapidated structures in the Heritage zone, of which 48 are critically dangerous,” said Nidhi Patel, commissioner of JMC-H.

Deputy commissioner of vigilance in JMC-H, Pushpendra Singh Rathore, said, “Many of these buildings have long-term tenants. As a result, owners avoid repairs, and the structures become hazardous. We are now sealing and demolishing such buildings.”

In Mansarovar, deputy commissioner Laxmikant Katara said, “Prior notices were served, and public warnings issued, but no response came. We had to act for public safety.” Gaurav Saini, commissioner of JMC-G, said, “Out of 296 identified buildings in Greater, 287 have been served notices.”
