NEW DELHI: Arkel India has invested about ₹100 crore in the first phase of a new manufacturing facility in Gujarat to locally produce lift electronic systems, marking its entry into domestic manufacturing of advanced elevator control solutions.
The facility, located at GIDC Estate in Savli-Manjusar near Vadodara and spread over 1,35,000 sq ft, will manufacture automated PCB assembly lines and semi-automatic machine room (MR) control panel lines, along with integrated lift control systems including MR, MRL and slim panels.
The company said the plant has an annual production capacity of around 36,000 units in a single shift and is equipped with temperature- and humidity-controlled manufacturing environments, along with electrostatic discharge management systems.
With this move, Arkel transitions from being primarily a marketer of lift electronic systems in India to a local manufacturer. The company said local production would help reduce import dependence and align products with Indian regulatory requirements, including compliance with the new IS-17900 standard for lifts.
Arkel’s India expansion follows the acquisition of Turkey-based Arkel by Sweden-headquartered Innovalift AB in January 2025. The Vadodara unit is expected to serve not only domestic demand but also potentially act as a manufacturing base for select Asia-Pacific markets.
