LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) on Monday sealed seven establishments across zones 2 and 4 during a drive to recover pending property and house tax from major defaulters.
In zone 4, civic teams sealed three govt-sector buildings after officials found substantial tax arrears. Shilpa Kumari, zonal officer of zone 4, said the institutions were served several notices asking them to clear the dues, but payments were not made.
The civic body initiated sealing proceedings as per municipal rules.
According to LMC records, the three establishments together have pending property tax of over Rs 1.5 crore. Officials said the enforcement team reached the sites, completed the required formalities, and sealed the premises.
In a separate action in zone 2, the civic body sealed four govt establishments over similar dues.
Two offices located near Raja Bazar were sealed for pending property tax amounting to nearly Rs 1 crore. Another govt establishment in the Talkatora area was sealed after authorities found arrears of around Rs 94.04 lakh.
The drive in zone 2 was carried out under the supervision of zonal officer Sanjay Yadav, with tax superintendent Om Prakash Soni and revenue inspector Namita Singh.
