Maharashtra Government Launches SIT to Investigate Land Misappropriation in Sambhajinagar, ETRealty

CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: State govt has set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into various types of major land related complaints in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district.

Headed by the divisional commissioner of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the SIT will investigate major land deals mired into serious allegations. In the recent state budget session, a question was raised regarding the alleged land misappropriation in gut number 30 at Brijwadi near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Responding to this, revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule had promised to set up an SIT to investigate different land complaints in the district.

“The SIT includes divisional commissioner as its chairman, inspector general of police (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar area or his nominee), district collector, superintendent of police of the anti-corruption department, deputy inspector general of registration (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division) and deputy director of land records department as members,” an official release said on Wednesday.

A special provision has also been made to include senior officers or experts in the relevant subject as special invitees depending on the nature of the complaint.

“The complaints received by the SIT will be investigated in detail and recommendations will be made to the government for further action on the necessary matters. Also, this team will complete the investigation within a period of three months and submit a detailed report to the government,” a senior official said.

Divisional commissioner Jitendra Papalkar has appealed to the citizens to submit their complaints to his office by April 10.
