PATNA: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) recovered around Rs 1 crore in property tax within two days through a special recovery drive. A six-member flying squad visited several wards to collect dues from property owners whose arrears exceeded Rs 50,000.

Municipal commissioner Yaspal Meena held a review meeting on Friday with revenue and executive officers to coordinate further collection efforts.

Officials said property owners who failed to clear their dues within the deadline faced bank account freezes and attachment of properties. The corporation has already issued notices prohibiting the sale of properties belonging to major defaulters.

These actions are being carried out under the Bihar Municipal Act 2007 and the revenue recovery regulations of 2013.

The corporation also notified defaulters through SMS regarding possible legal consequences. Residents can avail themselves of a one-time settlement scheme until March 31, which offers a waiver on interest and penalties for those who pay the principal amount.
