AHMEDABAD: The estate TDO department of the South Zone of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Wednesday, carried out a demolition drive to open an 18m-wide road under Town Planning Scheme 60 in the Narol area of the city.
As part of the operation, 20 residential houses and four shops obstructing the planned road were demolished. Other encroachments, including platforms falling within the designated road area, were also removed.
In total, 3,510 sq m of land was cleared, enabling the opening of a 195-metre-long stretch of road.
Prior to the action, the AMC had issued notices to the occupants, directing them to voluntarily remove the illegal structures.
However, after non-compliance, the demolition was executed on Wednesday in the presence of police.
