HYDERABAD: The Telangana govt said that Bharat future city, which is being developed across 30,000 acres, will accommodate about 25 to 30 lakh people in the future.

The govt added that a master plan is being prepared for the project. For the first time, it officially revealed its plans in the socio-economic survey 2026, stating that a central business district (CBD) with four catalytic zones is being proposed. These include an AI city spanning 300 acres, a health city across 200 acres, an education hub over 500 acres, and a life sciences hub covering about 3,000 acres, supported by district cooling systems and advanced urban services.

“Apart from that, a dedicated entertainment district will include large-format sports, recreation and tourism facilities, alongside the Rajiv zoological park, adjoining a 15,000-acre reserve forest, thereby reinforcing environmental balance,” the report said.

In the budget presentation for the year 2025-26, the govt stated that infrastructure facilities are being developed, including the construction of radial roads, a greenfield national highway directly connecting future city to Machilipatnam port in Andhra Pradesh, underground power systems, and eco-friendly smart grids. It added that the city will stand as a model of sustainable development.

In future city, a skill university has been established to create a skilled workforce in accordance with international standards.

“Once the construction of this future city is completed, it will stand alongside international cities and emerge as a global tourist centre. It will also become the first net-zero greenfield smart city,” deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka said in his budget speech. With the intention of developing future city and attracting national and international stakeholders, the govt held a global summit in Dec 2025.

Since the city is expected to accommodate nearly 25 to 30 lakh people, a mobility plan is being prepared, incorporating an integrated trunk road network, multimodal public transport, metro connectivity, and transit-oriented development (TOD) to promote sustainable mobility and reduce travel demand, the govt stated.

“The plan is based on the principles of work, live, learn, play and the 15-minute city concept,” the socio-economic survey added.
