LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has approved eight new projects in the warehousing and logistics sector, with proposed investments of around Rs 800 crore, an official spokesperson said on Monday.
“The approvals, granted under the Uttar Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022, reflect rising investor confidence in the sector, driven by incentives, financial assistance and tax exemptions for setting up logistics and storage units on private land,” he said.
Adding that the newly cleared projects include five silos, two warehousing units and one logistics project, officials informed that these will come up in Unnao, Auraiya, Balrampur, Shravasti, Sultanpur, Lucknow, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Hapur. The projects are expected to strengthen the state’s agricultural and industrial supply chain.
UPSIDA has so far cleared 61 projects under the Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022 and the PIP policy. Together, these projects involve proposed investments of over Rs 12,900 crore and will be developed across about 810 acres.
Officials said the projects will improve safe storage capacity for foodgrains, provide better warehousing and logistics support to farmers, and speed up the development of multi-modal logistics hubs, warehouse clusters and modern distribution centres. They are also expected to create substantial employment opportunities.
