CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh municipal corporation has begun the process to rent out more than 100 commercial properties across the city, kicking off e-auctions for several sites while the remaining are expected to go under the hammer within the next 7-10 days.

The list includes 39 booths in Sector 17, Smart City office building in Sector 17, 40 booths in Mauli Jagran, over a dozen booths in Sectors 17–22 underpass, and seven nurseries at different locations.

The Smart City building carries a reserve rent of Rs 30-35 lakh per month, while nurseries are priced between Rs 70,000 and Rs 90,000 depending on size. Subway booths have a base rent of Rs 26,000, Sector 17 booths range between Rs 19,000 and Rs 22,000, and Mauli Jagran booths are priced at Rs 5,000 per month.

The MC had earlier failed to attract bidders for many of these properties. Following repeated attempts, the base price of over a dozen underpass booths was cut by 20%, after approval by the general house.

Of the 105 booths in Mauli Jagran, 65 are already occupied and the corporation has now initiated the process to rent out the remaining 40. Paperwork for e-auctioning the seven nurseries is also nearing completion.

“We are in the final stage of documentation for the 40 booths and seven nurseries. These will be e-auctioned within the next week to 10 days. The booths will be allotted in their existing condition, and any repair work can be carried out by the occupants,” officials said.
