NEW DELHI: JK Cement has been declared the preferred bidder for two limestone mining blocks in Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, while also expanding its cement grinding capacity in Karnataka.

The company secured the Ituari-Jharkua limestone block in Panna district, Madhya Pradesh, spanning 350 hectares, through an e-auction conducted by the state government. It has also emerged as the preferred bidder for the Dommarnandyala Block-3 in YSR Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, covering 1,188 hectares.

Separately, the company has increased its grinding capacity at its Muddapur plant in Karnataka by one million tonnes per annum (MnTPA), taking the unit’s total grinding capacity to 4.5 MnTPA. The plant has a clinker capacity of 2.64 MnTPA.

The capacity enhancement has been achieved through debottlenecking and optimisation of existing operations, without the addition of new infrastructure.

Following the expansion, the company’s total grey cement production capacity has risen to 32.26 MnTPA, including capacity from its subsidiaries.
