Patna is preparing to welcome the city’s first metro route, the Blue Line Patna Metro. The Patna Metro North-South Line is divided into two corridors – corridor I and corridor II. Corridor I is the Red Line and Corridor II is known as the Blue Line. The partial services on corridor II are slated to be operational from August 15, 2025. What are the fare and timings of Patna Metro Blue Line?
The Patna Metro Blue Line has not yet mentioned any details on the ticket prices and the timings of the to be operational metro line. The PMRC however has plans to use automated fare technology that will allow commuters to use QR codes and Near Field Communication Phones.
What are the facilities available in corridor II of Patna Metro Blue Line stations?
Corridor II of the Patna Metro Blue Line has five stations that have been designed as two-level structures. These stations include the platform zones and the concourse area. The concourse area will include ticket counters, waiting zones, passenger announcement systems, check-in points, food and retail outlets and access to the platform and outside through escalators and elevators.
The civil and the construction work of the project is around 90% complete.
Patna Metro Blue Line interchange station
Out of these five stations, Khemnichak is an important interchange station and will have three levels instead of two and two platforms allowing coordinated connectivity between corridor I between Danapur- Khemnichak and corridor II between Patna Junction to ISBT.
Patna Metro depot
Bariyaa Chak is where the Blue Line depot has been built. Spread over 76 acre, all operations such as maintenance and stabling will be handled from here. This depot includes a testing track, two workshop bays, three inspection bays, eight stabling bays that will accommodate 32 three coach trains, and an auxiliary substation of 2,500 KVA. In addition to all this, the depot includes an auditorium, a training school, a canteen and an operations control centre.
Patna Metro Blue Line project cost
The estimated project cost of the Patna Metro Blue Line is around Rs 13,925 crore. This project is being funded jointly by the Bihar state government which has invested 20%. This is excluding the cost of land acquisition. The central government has invested 20% and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has invested 60%.
